Reform Party (RP) Election 2015

Party History

The Reform Party was founded on 3rd July 2008 by the late Mr J. B. Jeyaretnam, the “father” of the Opposition . Mr J.B. Jeyaretnam was the first opposition candidate to be elected Member of Parliament under the Workers' Party of Singapore banner after a period of about 16 years when not a single opposition candidate in Singapore won a seat.

Mr J.B Jeyaretnam's struggles against authoritarian government are familiar to many Singaporeans. Through his sacrifices he showed Singaporeans that democracy and the freedom to choose was their birthright and that government should serve the people, not the other way round. Mr J. B. Jeyaretnam sadly passed away on 30th September 2008. However his legacy to the nation, the Reform Party, is strong and committed to carrying on with the work he started.

Kenneth Jeyaretnam attended St Andrew's School, followed by the United World College of South East Asia.  He attended Queens' College, the University of Cambridge, where he read economics and graduated with Double First Class Honours. Upon graduation, Jeyaretnam returned to Singapore, whilst declining to join his father's Workers' Party (WP), Kenneth contributed by writing sections of the party's manifesto dealing with economic policy and articles for the party newsletter The Hammer.

Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam a.k.a "The AMK Claw"

Born the eldest son of prominent politician, the AMK Claw spent most of his early years overseas and returned to pick up where his father legacy to establish and maintain a fully democratic government through the restoration of full human rights; a fairer and just distribution of wealth with the elimination of poverty.

Known for his superhuman and razor sharp eyes for details in Accounting, Finance and Economics, the AMK Claw is extremely well verse in balance sheets, reserves, assets of our nation. His key concerns was that there were too many discrepancies in its numbers to come up with the combined wealth the our government has stored up and how the billions in our CPF are manged through the Singapore's sovereign wealth fund under Temasek Holdings and GIC.

Using his razor sharp claws, he sliced and slashed the budget into nano bits and examine each of them carefully. He lambastes about the lack of accountability and transparency in how our hard earned money fund are managed and accounted to us, the citizens.

Special Ability

His special ability is his infinite mental healing power that regenerates damaged or destroyed tissues in his hyper sonic brain. While seemingly ageless, it is unknown exactly how his mental healing extends his life expectancy. Although his brain heals, the healing factor does not suppress the psychological pain he endures while attacked.

His favorite song ... needless to ask... Coldplay...Yellow.... look at the stars... look how their shine for you... everything you do... all the things you do... yeah.. they were all Yellow..

Party Ideology

That every member of the society is born with fundamental rights which cannot be abrogated except in clearly defined circumstances spelt out in the Singapore Constitution and that it is the paramount duty of the society to promote the human dignity of its every single member.

For the Party’s philosophy to be put into practice, the Party shall devote all its efforts to establish and maintain a government whose executive arm (the Cabinet) acts strictly under law and is held in check by:
  • A fully elected and sovereign Parliament as the voice of the people with the executive made answerable to Parliament for every decision and policy of the executive.
  • An independently appointed Judiciary to uphold the Constitution and protect the citizens’ rights from any interference by the Executive to deny the citizens fullest expression of their rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution.
  • To secure to every member of the society his full political, social and economic rights.
  • To effect a fairer and just distribution of the wealth of the country and to eliminate poverty.

Hot Potato Question?

Roy Ngerng, an asset or political suicide?

Roy Ngerng, the political blogger who is being sued by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for defamation over his blog postings on CPF looks set to join the Reform Party to contest in the upcoming General Election. The 34-year-old had previously met with Reform Party secretary-general Kenneth Jeyaretnam and quoted " I want to be able to enter government, to debate about these issues and allow policies to be passed to protect Singaporeans. This is all I want." .

Will PM Lee Score "A" (70% and above) for his AMK GRC ?
